What Are Chemical Peels?
For the best results from chemical peel aesthetic treatments, ZenSations Medical Spa Services provides you with numerous options. Your personalized chemical peel with exfoliating solutions (such as salicylic, glycolic, lactic, and trichloroacetic acids) will reveal more radiant skin. At our Bonita Springs, FL office, our team offers chemical peel treatments that help to resolve skin flaws, like fine lines, wrinkles, scars, rough patches, hyperpigmentation problems, and more. Chemical peels dissolve dead, damaged skin cells with the application of an individualized peel on the skin that causes the top layer to peel off. As your skin recovers and starts to repair and rejuvenate itself, you should notice a smoother, clearer complexion. A chemical peel is a noninvasive technique to make your complexion radiant and can be used for the neck and face.
In our Bonita Springs, FL office, we perform chemical peels on multiple levels (light, medium, and deep) to meet our patients' skin concerns.
Light peels: You can receive a light peel on your lunch break and go right back to your day. This strength of peel will remove the outer skin layer (the epidermis), giving your complexion a brighter appearance and a softer texture. We typically suggest that you receive a light peel around once a month for the best glowing results.
Medium-depth peels: This level of peel penetrates further into your skin, and you'll generally prefer to have this level of facial treatment during a long weekend. You may also prefer to prepare yourself for increased discomfort during and up to an hour after a chemical peel. Medium-depth peels are best for patients who have significant damage to their skin, such as deeper wrinkles and darker pigmentation problems.
Deep peels: The most advanced of the three types of chemical peels is the deep peel treatment, and it does require the most recovery time. This is an aggressive treatment that may leave your face swollen, peeling, and itchy for a few weeks. Patients who receive a deep peel may have dark age spots, sun damage, prominent acne scars, or deep scars. As this type of chemical peel is typically uncomfortable for most patients, we will provide you with mild anesthesia prior to your peel.
How Do Chemical Peels Work?
On the day of your appointment at ZenSations Medical Spa Services, we will have you lying in a comfortable position to administer your treatment. A team member will ensure the skin is cleaned prior to applying the customized solution to the face, neck, or both. Our menu of chemical peels is also useful to treat the skin on the hands, arms, and chest. We will brush the solution onto your face and let it set for an appropriate amount of time, which will be discussed in your chemical peel planning session. Finally, we will wash the solution off your skin and apply a neutralizing agent. Patients should bring light sunscreen and a hat to wear outside after the procedure to protect from environmental exposure.
